The Golden Rams softball team split with the Fort Valley State University Wildcats on Saturday, April 9. The Golden Rams are now 29-4 (13-2 in the SIAC) while the Wildcats are 10-22 (3-11 in the SIAC).
In game #1, the Golden Rams lost (6-5). The Golden Rams led 5-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. But, the Wildcats exploded for 4 runs in the inning to upset the Golden Rams. Alera Buie scored when Hailey Bracey singled in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game for the Wildcats.
Glory Seay hit a homerun and double for the Golden Rams. Mackenzie Chamblee was the losing pitcher for the Golden Rams.
In game #2, the Golden Rams won (1-0). The Golden Rams only managed 4 hits while the Wildcats only had 2 hits in this pitchers’ duel. The lone score came in the 4th inning when Ramona McLeod scored when Glory Seay singled to the outfield.
Trista Murphy pitched all 7 innings for the Golden Rams. Murphy struck out 10 batters in the contest.
The Golden Rams and the Wildcats are scheduled to play game #3 on Sunday, April 10. The first pitch is scheduled at 1:00 pm.
